  • Summary
    • A heart attack, or myocardial infarction, occurs when the blood flow to a section of the heart muscle becomes blocked. If the flow of blood isn't restored quickly, the section of heart muscle becomes damaged from lack of oxygen and begins to die. Once the heart muscle is damaged, there is no known method of reversing that damage. People who experience heart attacks have increased risks of developing other severe problems such as heart failure. The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness and safety of an experimental treatment of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMCSs) called Prochymal(R) for the treatment of patients who have had a first heart attack.
